Glossary - H

Handling strength The strength necessary to further manipulate a bonded assembly and pass it to the next stage of processing without changing its positioning

Hardener is a substance added to an adhesive to promote or control its curing by chemical reaction.

Heat resistance A material is said to be heat-resistant when it undergoes no changes as a result of exposure to a specified temperature over a certain period of time

Hooke's law Hooke's law describes the relationship between applied stress and strain in an ideal elastic solid body.

High modulus The Module describes, simply said, the inner strength of a cured adhesive. There exists no german standard describing this strength. The Sika® group therefore uses the standards of the VW/Audi group ( standard PV 2042 ) Here it is defined, that an adhesive used for the bonding of windshields must be high modulus; this means that an adhesive must have a module higher than 2,5 MPa.

Hot Cure (HC) HC-adhesives are one component polyurethan-adhesives curing quickly under the influence of heat of more than 100°C.
